Digital economy development in the Czech Republic is limping

According to the digital development index, developed by American Fletcher School, Czech Republic lags in the development of Internet services and e-commerce for the fifty most developed countries. Between 2008 and 2013 the Czech Republic saw little improvement. In the ranking Czech ended in the last but one place; neighboring Slovakia was the eighteenth.

ndex assesses how far received each country on its way to the digital economy.

The study focuses on the period from 2008 to 2013 and takes into account the four groups of factors: supply, demand, innovation and institutions.

In absolute terms the developed Western economies get still better results, but in the Index of development of digital economy are competitors from Asia and Latin America much more successful.

The authors of the index indicate the western states the term "stall out", so as stagnant or lingering. "The only way they can reignite their tempo, is to multiply innovation and look for sales abroad," says the study. "Sluggish countries are also getting older. When you are able to attract young, talented immigrants, they can help to quickly revive innovation," the report said.

Czech Republic unfortunately ended in the last but one place ranking. Significantly better ended the neighboring Slovakia, which occupied 18th place ranking.
