Bavaria: We Will Introduce Digital Factory and the Car of Future to the World

This revolution  will be a groundbreaking change for all the areas of our economy and society, similarilly as introducing automatization of production or information technologies. Not only the traditional sector but also entire production processes must begin with preparations for this transformation. For example, the cars we are using today, will soon be outdated. Similar changes used to take decades in the past. Nowadays we only have few years to prepare for digital revolution. And nowadays is being decided who will be the winner and who will end up as a loser.

Bavaria wants to lead the digital age. It started its digital revolution with so famous German get-there, concistence and effectivness. The new Bavarian strategy called Bayern.Digital Bavaria presents the condititons needed for introducing cars and factories of the future in Bavaria. That's why Bavarians focus on new forms of digitalised production and Industry 4.0, robotised automatization in production, connected mobility and data safety. Digital infrastructure is being improved. Only in 2014 -2018 will Bavaria invest 1,5 billion Euro into highspeed Internet and will achieve a 50 Mbit/s minimum speed. Besides, the Bavarian Government in the town of Garching founded Centrum Digitalisierung.Bayern, with the aim of connecting business with scientific institutions, to foster their collaboration, start-ups, to improve education in the area of digitalization and thus represent the impetus for its further development

Bavarian government believes that thanks to its new strategy Bavaria will remain standing as an economical giant on the global market. According to the Bavarian Minster of Industry Ilse Aigner, data will become the main stock of the 21st century. Based on the Bayern.Digital strategy, Bavaria expects besides economical growth also more than three thousand new IT companies along with more jobs in new sectors to emerge. Least, but not last, Bavaria thinks of digitalization as one of the ways how to deal with demographic changes in the society.

The difference between Czech strategic governmental documents and Bayern.Digital is mainly in the fact that Bavarians introduced very clear vision elaborated into a factual practical execution. The pilot program in mobility is the digitalization of the A9 highway, the model region for the digital medical industry is Medical Valley in Northern Bavaria and the intelligent house energy management us being introduced in the 10.000-Häuser-Programm programme. Besides Industry 4.0, mobilty, healthcare and energy the strategy focuses also on media, digital planning, construction and housing, tourism, trade, craftsmanship, finance, environmental protection and agriculture.

The fact that Bayern.Digital strategy wasn't created at a clerk's desk also increases its chance to success. The representatives of business, such as the famous car manufacturer BMW, ProSiebenSat.1 media house, Siemens, Intel and other significant companies especially from the IT sector and start-ups contributed with their knowledge and ideas to form the strategy, too. Also the scientists from the most significant academic and research institutions in Bavaria such as Munich LMU, Passau University or Frauehofer Institute had their say. CSU, the governing party, also invited representatives of other political parties from the Bavarian state assembly. By involving every single opinion group, the Bavarians want to achieve the participation and collaboration of the society and the companies on this strategy and a collective effort to see it brought into life.
