Digital Content Study
The new text on digital content was written in the frame of a research project of Czech Arts Institute that is mapping the cultural and creative industries in the Czech Republic. The text focuses on definition of the digital content sector and presents recent economic data and performing indicators. Considering global trends the study reflect the strong and weak sides of digital content sector. It presents as well the results of qualitative interviews with digital content representatives on their needs and ideas for projects that the state administration should pay attention to.
The digital content sector is part to the large sector of information and communication technologies. The state perceives ICT mainly in the connection to the physical infrastructure or services provided for its maintainance. This perception illustrates the reduction of the whole digital economy sector to the issue of high-speed internet. Usually, in public space, the digital economy is linked to the basic infrastructure such as highways, train corridors or power network. In this context, the digital content is being diminished to solely hardware. That is why our study accents the importance of digital content as a creative part of the digital economy and the interconnection of cultural and creative industries with all economic and social sectors.
